Privacy Policy
eterlearn — learn. prepare. repeat.
Effective date: 14 June 2026 Last updated: 20 June 2026
This privacy policy explains what information eterlearn collects, why it collects it, and how it is used. It is written in plain English and is specific to how eterlearn actually works — not a generic template.
If you have questions, email: contact@eterlearn.com
1. Who we are
eterlearn is an independent service operated from California, United States. We are not a large company and run the platform with our own funds.
2. What we collect and why
2.1 Content you submit
When you paste text, submit a URL, or upload a PDF, that content is processed to generate an explanation, power the tutoring session, or — if you are using Interview Prep — extract role details and generate your prep document and mock interview sessions. This content is:
- Sent to Anthropic's API for AI processing (see §4)
- Stored in our database so your session or interview project can be saved and shared via URL
- Never sold, never shared with third parties beyond what is described in this policy
If you submit content that contains personal information (your own or someone else's), that information is included in what gets processed and stored. Please don't submit sensitive personal information — medical records, financial details, passwords, or anything you wouldn't want stored on a third-party server.
Interview Prep: If you use the Interview Prep feature, you may submit a job description and optionally a resume. Resume content is personal information by nature — it typically includes your name, contact details, employment history, and education. When you submit a resume, we automatically extract only professional content (skills, work experience, education, projects) and remove personal contact information — your name, email, phone, address, and personal links — before storing or sending to Anthropic. Identification numbers (social security numbers, passport numbers) and financial information are not removed automatically; remove these before submitting.
2.2 Account information
When you sign in, we collect:
- Your email address, used only for authentication
- A session token, stored in your browser to keep you signed in
2.3 IP addresses
We hash (one-way encrypt) your IP address to enforce rate limits and prevent abuse. The hash cannot be reversed to recover your original IP address. We do not log or store raw IP addresses.
2.4 Usage data
We collect basic, non-identifying usage data including:
- Which input type was used (text, URL, or PDF)
- Which level was selected
- Whether a tutoring session was started
- Session length (number of messages)
- Whether an interview project was created
- Whether a mock interview was started
- Mock interview session length (number of messages)
We do not use third-party analytics services (no Google Analytics, no Mixpanel). Any usage data collected stays within our own infrastructure.
2.5 Resume content
When you save a resume to your account, we store an extracted version that contains only your professional content (skills, work experience, education, projects, certifications). We remove personal contact information (name, email, phone, address, personal links) server-side before storage. You can view, edit, or delete the stored content at any time from your account settings.
2.6 Feedback submissions
When you submit feedback through the feedback page, your message is sent to our support email along with your account email and user ID so we can respond. We do not store feedback submissions in our database.
2.7 What we do NOT collect
- We do not use advertising cookies or tracking pixels
- We do not build behavioral profiles
- We do not collect payment information (eterlearn is currently free)
- We do not collect device fingerprints
3. How long we keep your data
- Sessions are retained until you delete them or close your account
- Interview projects (including prep documents, prep items, mock interview transcripts, and feedback) are retained until you close your account
- Saved resumes are retained until you delete them or close your account
- Account data (email) is retained until you request deletion
- IP hashes are retained for 24 hours for rate limiting purposes only, then purged
To delete your account and all associated data, email contact@eterlearn.com with the subject line "Delete my account." We will process the request within 30 days.
4. Third-party services
eterlearn is built on third-party infrastructure. When you use eterlearn, your data passes through the following services:
Anthropic (AI processing)
Content you submit — the text, URL content, or PDF text — is sent to Anthropic's API to generate explanations, power tutoring sessions, extract role details from job descriptions and resumes, generate interview prep documents, power the mock interviewer, and generate mock interview feedback. Anthropic processes this content to produce a response and does not use API inputs to train its models by default, per Anthropic's API usage policies.
Anthropic is a separate company with its own privacy practices. You can review Anthropic's privacy policy at https://www.anthropic.com/privacy.
What this means in practice: when you paste content into eterlearn, that content leaves our servers and is processed by Anthropic. Do not submit content you are not authorized to share or that contains confidential information.
Supabase (database and authentication)
User accounts, session data, and saved content are stored on Supabase, a managed database platform. Supabase is SOC 2 Type 2 compliant. Data is stored on servers in the United States.
Supabase's privacy policy: https://supabase.com/privacy
Upstash (rate limiting)
We use Upstash Redis to enforce rate limits. Upstash stores hashed IP addresses temporarily for this purpose only.
Upstash's privacy policy: https://upstash.com/trust/privacy.pdf
Vercel (hosting)
eterlearn is hosted on Vercel. Vercel may process request metadata (including IP addresses) as part of normal web hosting operations.
Vercel's privacy policy: https://vercel.com/legal/privacy-policy
5. Cookies
eterlearn uses only functional cookies — specifically, an authentication session cookie when you are signed in. We do not use advertising cookies, tracking cookies, or third-party cookies.
6. Children's privacy
eterlearn is intended for users of all ages, including students. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 beyond what is described in this policy.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has submitted personal information through eterlearn, please contact us at contact@eterlearn.com and we will delete it promptly.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights including:
- Access: request a copy of the data we hold about you
- Deletion: request that your data be deleted
- Correction: request that inaccurate data be corrected
- Portability: request your data in a portable format
To exercise any of these rights, email contact@eterlearn.com. We will respond within 30 days.
8. Data transfers
eterlearn is operated from the United States. If you access eterlearn from outside the United States, your data will be transferred to and processed in the United States. By using eterlearn, you consent to this transfer.
9. Changes to this policy
If we make meaningful changes to this policy, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we will notify signed-in users by email.
